Hillary for America, 2016 — With only two weeks left until the election, the digital organizing team asked us to figure out how to recruit tens of thousands of new volunteers. My team created an easy-to-use volunteer onboarding experience that gave our supporters a number of ways to get involved. Think Tinder, but for volunteering opportunities. I was responsible for product design.
Volunteer recommendations were personalized based on the user’s geolocation. Swing state voters, for example, saw a different set of suggestions than voters in solid blue states. Our intelligent ranking algorithm ensured that each each person would be presented with a high-impact action, no matter their location. In just a few weeks, this tool helped us schedule over 30,000 volunteer shifts all across the country.
