Tandem: a better way to keep in touch

I’m excited to share a project I’ve been working on with Greg Greiner and Jeremy Ho. It’s called Tandem, and it’s an app that makes it easy to keep in touch with friends and family.

An unfortunate fact of adult life is that so many of the people we care about live far, far away. Keeping in touch with them can be really difficult, despite our best efforts. There’s never any reason to reach out today instead of tomorrow. And the longer you put it off, the easier it is to keep on putting it off. Apps like Facebook and Instagram are supposed to make it easier, but they often end up feeling empty and vapid. They’re designed to help you broadcast your life, not deepen your relationships.

Tandem is a simple, spontaneous and meaningful way to keep up with the people you care about. Here’s how it works. First, enter the email address of the person you want to keep in touch with. Every few months, we’ll send you both an email with an interesting prompt to answer. The two of you can take it from there. We don’t know exactly when your prompt will arrive—they’re timed to surprise. We wrote hundreds of high-quality questions, so you’ll never run out.

We hope you enjoy riding Tandem with your friends. Send me a tweet if you have questions, comments, or concerns. Let’s get rolling.
